Known as Japan's #1 prefecture for gem and precious metal industries, Yamanashi prefecture is home to jewelry designer Yuta Ishihara who launched Shihara in 2010. The Tokyo-based jewelry label handcrafts delicate 18k gold earrings, rings, necklaces, and bracelets that explore geometry and minimalism. By taking away decorative elements in an innovative process that he calls “subtraction”, Ishihara integrates concealed and adjustable closures and invisible rigid bars, allowing his jewelry to be seamlessly styled in a variety of ways.
